Bake Sale

P5/6 will be having a small bake sale for pupils on Friday (tomorrow) as part of their enterprise project. In school, they have baked shortbread and cupcakes. All items will be 20p. Thank you for your support!

Reindeer Raffle

Our very talented pupil made the most wonderful reindeer as part of our Enterprise project. We will be selling raffle tickets (50p each) all week and the lucky winner will take home Rudy the reindeer. There will be 4 runner up prizes of baby reindeer. The draw will take place at assembly on Friday 6th December.

Special visitor this Tuesday

Children’s writer Barbara Henderson will visit P4-7 on 26th November (Tuesday) to talk about her smuggling novella Black Water.

Barbara is the author of three children’s novels and a novella:
• Highland Clearances novel Fir for Luck, based on real events in Sutherland
• Victorian boy-on-the-run tale Punch, which begins with the fire which destroyed the original Inverness Victorian Market in 1889, set against a lively backdrop of travelling entertainers
Wilderness Wars, a contemporary eco-thriller for children asking: ‘What if Nature fights back?’
Black Water, a smuggling novella set in 1792 and featuring the poet Robert Burns

RRP for all books is £6.99 each, but if desired, children will be able to buy a book of their choice for £6.00 , and have it personally signed by the author on the day of the visit.

Send correct money in a labelled envelope to the teacher on the day if your child would like a book.

Excellent Enterprising!

P5/6 have been working very hard in their new topic of “Enterprise”. They have worked in small groups generating ideas, planning then implementing these! Pupils have shown excellent motivation, creativity, co-operation, leadership and using their initiative. Well done all!

(Sorry, 1 group missed the camera, more to follow soon!)

We are still working on a few projects over the next few weeks. Our first production line of crafts is being sold at the ‘Christmas Market on the Green’ at the Craigmonie Theatre (High School) on Friday evening. Here is a little taster of our creations :-)!

2,4,8….

We continue to work hard on learning quick recall of our times tables. Having revised our 5 times table, we are now concentrating on our 4 and 8 times tables. We have explored the link between the 2, 4 and 8 times tables. We have also discussed using the doubling technique for quicker recall. The 2,4 ,8 game uses this technique. Have a go at home!
