Encyclopedia Britannica

This afternoon, Katie Jeffs (Senior Network Librarian – North Area/Digital for High Life Highland) showed us how to access https://www.britannica.com/ via the https://www.highlifehighland.com/libraries/ website. We had a look at the range of information available and discussed the benefits of using websites like this for research.Your child will take home their library number and can access this at home. We really enjoyed the Geography Explorer game! We really enjoyed Katie’s visit and hope to work with her again soon.

Homework 30.09.19

P5/6 have a copy of First News to keep for the week. Please read at least 3 articles. You will share a short summary of one of the articles with the class on Friday. You may wish to write notes/key words or facts in your homework jotter to help you remember. Please also play at least 2 games of Activelearn or Education City or practise your numeracy target.

A spelling activity will be given out tomorrow. Thank you for your support 🙂

Sources of Information

We have been concentrating on reading for information and non fiction material this term. We are very lucky to visit Glenurquhart Library every 2nd week to pick 3 books of our choice, at least one being non-fiction. Last week, we had an interesting visit from Katie at the Library who shared useful skills to help us research effectively. We will have a further visit from Katie in October and we will be learning to recognise suitable and reliable sources from the internet.

Eco Bird Feeders

P5/6 had great success at Glenurquhart Horticultural Society Flower Show. We worked in groups and designed and created Eco bird feeders made from recycled materials. We had fantastic designs including water trays, bird perches and refilling seed trays! Our tatties in a pot also won a prize!
